"Once again, Suzuki has researched and developed unique professional grade harmonicas. Utilizing the most seasoned tonewoods and unique construction technique, Suzuki proudly offers a new line of harmonicas in Rosewood. Rosewood has been sought after by top musicians from all over the globe, from Classical Guitar players to top Violinists. This wood allows unique tonal qualities and when used in harmonica construction, gives a warmer tone. Using Rosewood can produce a high velocity of sound and a broad range of mid and low overtones. These 'lows' help to create a complex bottom end which imparts a richness to the overall tone to the instrument. The high quality Rosewood comb in the MR-550 is resistant to moisture and swelling. The durability of rosewood is regarded as one of the best in the 'Tonewood' family. If you prefer to play a wood comb harmonica but dislike the problems associated with wooden comb harmonicas in the past then here is the harmonica for you! |

About the Tester Dane is a professional systems engineer, academic and musician who has played harmonica for over forty years. He currently plays harmonica and mandolin with a celtic/folk/blues band, Headland and a celtic/gypsy band, The Gypsy Tarts. Dane has researched and practiced harmonica maintenance and tuning in earnest for the last five years (since retiring from full-time professional work), and during this time has often been privileged to meet and learn from some of Australia's premier harmonica artists and technicians. On the qualifications side of things, Dane has undergraduate degrees in Engineering and Business, and post-graduate qualifications in Information Technology and Education. He works as a part-time academic these days and though he loves teaching computer engineering he enjoys himself much more when working on instruments and playing music! Diatonic Harmonicas Diatonic harmonicas come in several types (Tremolo, Bues, Octave etc.) with the common attribute being that the harmonica is tuned to a particular key (or scale). See the Wikipedia entry for Diatonic harmonica for excellent general descriptions of the major types of diatonic harmonica. "Diatonic means, roughly, something in only one key, and that's the meaning applied to the harmonica. A C harmonica is tuned to the C major scale, and plays the two most important chords in C (C Major chord and G 7th chord). If you want to play the same song in another key, let's say D, you'd pick up a D harp and play it the same way you did in C. It's a little like using a capo on a guitar."Harp-L FAQ FEATURES

About MandoHarp InstrumentsAll MandoHarp instruments are tracked from the moment of their original creation or purchase. Each instrument is assessed by an expert musician when received and again before offering it for sale. A brief report is written and stored in our database for each item, noting paticularly our expert assessment on receipt, any work performed on the instrument and its final condition. Personal Service At MandoHarp we like to get to know our customers - we're musicians and we like to get to know other musicians. We love to talk with musicians whenever possible [probably a bit too much! :)]. And especially musicians who are interested in our instruments. Please feel more than welcome to email (info@mandoharp.com) or phone us (61- 2-65685545) to discuss your music at any time. Inspections, trials and pickup by prior arrangement are welcome at our workshops in Nambucca Heads, near Coffs Harbour on the NSW North Coast. |
