About the Tester
Dane is a professional systems engineer, academic and musician who has played for over forty years. He currently sings and plays harmonica, mandolin, mandola etc. with a celtic/folk/blues band, Headland and a celtic/gypsy band, The Gypsy Tarts. Dane has researched and practiced instrument maintenance, repair and tuning in earnest for the last five years or so (since retiring from full-time professional work), and during this time has often been privileged to meet and learn from some of Australia's premier artists and technicians. On the qualifications side of things, Dane has undergraduate degrees in Engineering and Business, and post-graduate qualifications in Information Technology and Education. He works as a part-time engineer and academic these days, and though he loves teaching computer engineering he enjoys himself much more when working on instruments and playing music!
